Cold Snap
醒姜
Lime hits first, then ginger beer's prickly heat, finishing with grapefruit's quiet bitterness. Like a splash of cold water to the face.

Why this one
Tonight you need a jolt, not a lullaby. Built right in the glass over a mountain of crushed ice, bubbles carry the ginger and sharp citrus straight up. Drink it fast while the frost still bites.

Ingredients
- 30 mlLime juice
- 45 mlGrapefruit juiceor use Bottled pink grapefruit juice
- 15 mlHoneyor use Agave syrup
- to topGinger beeror use Spicy ginger ale
- 1Lime wheel
- 2Ginger slice
Method
Drop the lime wheel and 1 ginger slice into the glass. Press gently 5 times to release oils and juice.
Don't shred the lime peel—bitterness follows.
Add lime juice, grapefruit juice, and honey. Fill with crushed ice to 2 cm below the rim.
Bagged ice from a corner store works; wrap cubes in a towel and smash for home.
Stir 15 turns with the spoon to dissolve the honey.
Dig to the bottom so nothing pools there.
Top with ginger beer. Lift the spoon through twice, no more.
Easy does it—aggressive stirring kills the fizz.
Add more crushed ice to form a peak. Slap the remaining ginger slice to wake its aroma, then perch it on top.
The slap releases ginger oils that hit your nose before the first sip.
